Four girls travelling in Zimbabwe

Gaëlle

We went on a trip to Zimbabwe, it was an unforgettable experience. We started with Victoria Falls where we had a huge choice of activities. We went to the crocodile farm where we could see a very large amount of these huge reptiles. We also attended the meal of a hundred vultures at Victoria Falls Safari Lodge, it was very impressive! Then in the evening we ate at Boma, a very traditional restaurant where we could explore traditional food.

The next day we went to visit the famous Victoria Falls, absolutely beautiful, an unforgettable visit! We then went to eat at the Lookout Café, a great restaurant with breathtaking views of the gorges where we were able to do the zip line, the view was breathtaking!

During our free time during these 2 days we obviously took advantage of the pool under the African sun! Victoria Falls has marked me and will forever be one of my favorite places!

Hwange, good memories come to me when I hear that name. It is a national park where you have the chance to see animals in their natural habitat. With my 3 friends, we had 2 days to visit the park. The first day we crossed the park from one end to the other to get to our accommodation and the second day, we experienced the famous safari. Yes, safaris like you see in the movies. We just did not have the hat and camouflage clothes. My dream came true. We often speak about elephants, giraffes, or even zebras. Well, I can say that I had the privilege to see them all with my own eyes! But that was not all, we also discovered new animals. I did not realize the number of animals that can be found in Hwange. If I’m talking about wildebeest, dik-dik, kalao or impala, it’s normal that it seems Chinese. I can brag about who they are, what family they come from and what they look like. In short, it was an unforgettable experience that will remain long in my memory.

Zimbabwe, an extraordinary stay, memories engraved forever! There is a lot to tell about a trip like this. However, I would like to say two-three things on a day that made a special mark on me. With three of my best friends we went to Matopos, a place full of surprises. So we had already seen quite a few things, but on this particular day we witnessed something out of this world! Accompanied by a captivating guide, we went in search of rhinoceros. These were not easy to find, it is why we stopped at several places to admire cave paintings in the meantime.

At the end of the day, the rhinos finally appeared! I did not expect them to be so impressive! We were only a few meters away, which plunged us even more into their universe. I could have stayed close to them for hours without getting tired of it! These images will stay in my head for a very long time, and I enjoyed the opportunity to be around these famous animals.

For me this trip to Zimbabwe was a first time, I had never set foot in Africa. Having now returned home, in Belgium, I can shout that I have not been disappointed! Between breathtaking landscapes, the different activities all more incredible than each other and the pleasant atmosphere we experienced there, I was able to take full advantage of this road trip! But what are the people imagining when we talk to them about this country exactly? Of course, Mr. All World will focus on the famous safaris and other treks in the beautiful African Savannah. After experiencing this experience, I feel pleasant emotions and other memories of these beautiful adventures that will remain long in my mind and Zimbabwe is known for that.

But when I travel in an unknown country, it is important for me to know more about it and its history. That’s why part of our trip was devoted to the visit of the famous site of “Great Zimbabwe”. It is the old palace of the local monarch who lived centuries ago! I learned that this monument had been built by the ancient civilization of Zimbabwe: the Shona. Walking through these ruins showed me how much they could testify to a beautiful story, information about the importance of a rich cultural past, and encourage to still practice some traditions! I leave this beautiful country with my head full of memories, new knowledge and beautiful experiences!
